The two organs I have heard in action recently were installed by what we would now call 'the local council' within a year of each other, in 1901 and 1902. They were a huge statement of civic pride, and it is wonderful that they have both been restored and are again something to be proud of. Colchester perhaps can't match the Glasgow instrument's once-a-day recital, but we can get along next Tuesday lunchtime to enjoy Ian Ray playing Remembrance tunes. 1 pm. See you there!
